Stafford u3a Handbell Group was formed out of the Coppenlea Handbell Ringers, which started in 1964. That group assembled the bells, devised its own music, acquired new bells and played at several bell rallies and cathedral ‘mass rings’. After a long-term loan, the family that owned the bells, some of which, anecdotally, are over 100 years old, kindly donated the 22 bells to Stafford u3a in 2022.

We play a variety of music, ranging from the classics to old-time Music Hall songs.

The Group is a member of the Heart of England Handbell Society, which holds an annual rally.
