We are living through a crisis in nature. With a few exceptions, both numbers and types of wildlife are plummeting. There are many reasons - global warming, use of pesticides and farming practices among them - but also the impact of so many houses and vehicles.

There are many organisations both nationally and locally trying hard to make our environment more wildlife-friendly. Staffordshire Wildlife Trust does excellent work and have recently organised the Stafford Brooks project. The Bee Friendly Trust recently awarded Stafford the Bee Friendly Town award.

There are many community groups working to make their area more wildlife-friendly.

Nurturing Nature in Stafford aims to learn more about the wildlife in our area and to support the groups already working to improve the situation.
