The ties between the u3a birdwatching group and the Stafford Branch of the West Midland Bird Club have become stronger over the past year. Our field trips are led by volunteers from the WMBC, giving both novice and experienced birdwatchers alike an opportunity to enhance their skills and identify more species.
Flyers for the WMBC Stafford Branch evening talks are sent out to all members of the u3a group. The talks are open to anyone with an interest in birds. They are held at Walton Village Hall over the winter on the second Tuesday of the month starting at 7.30pm. Speakers are knowledgeable with inspiring photos of birds they have encountered in the UK and around the world.
In October 2024 we joined the Stafford Branch WMBC coach trip to Frampton Marsh in Lincolnshire. A total of 59 bird species were seen. It is hoped to do the same in May when the WMBC Stafford Branch are organising a coach trip to Leighton Moss in Lancashire. Like the evening talks these trips are open to anyone with an interest in birds.
